Brief Profile: Dr. Peter K. Kamau, the current Deputy Executive Dean, of the School of Architecture and the Built Environment of Kenyatta University is a professional planner who holds a Doctorate (2005) and an MSc in Policy and Planning Science (2002) from The University of Tsukuba, Japan. He is also holder of an MA in Urban and Regional Planning (1994) and a BA (1990) from The University of Nairobi, Kenya. He is a Licensed Physical Planner and EIA lead Expert. His research interests are in community development research and initiatives focusing on Urban Housing and Land-use systems, environmental impacts, poverty, Water resource use and human-wildlife conflicts. He is skilled in the design, utilization and analysis of various participatory methodologies, project design, presentation, management, coordination; monitoring and evaluation. Dr. Kamau is a member of the Kenya Institute of Planners (KIP), the City Planning Institute of Japan (CPIJ) and the Urban Housing Sciences, Japan (UHS). He has previously served as Chairman in the Department of Environmental Planning and Management, at Kenyatta University (2009-2013).
